5 Easy Ways To Learn Something New Daily
Simple ways to integrate continuous learning into your everyday life
With this post, I want to go back to how it all began: Continue Learning.
As I’ve already explained in previous posts, continuous learning and self development are very important.
And with this post, I want to help you to implement this idea of daily learning and growth into your everyday life.
I’m sure that no matter what your life looks like, you can utilize at least one of the things listed here.
1. Keep something to read at hand
Have a book in your bag, an article saved in your browser, a Kindle app on your phone. That way, when you’re waiting in line or waiting for the bus, instead of scrolling on TikTok you can learn something new about an interesting topic.
And you don’t have to read much. One page a day can already make a huge difference, because this adds up: if you’re reading just one page a day, at the end of the year you’ve read 365 pages — that’s a whole book!
2. Listen to informational podcasts or audiobooks
When do you listen to music? While driving or in the bus? While cleaning your apartment? Or while cooking? If you’re just a little bit like me, you constantly listen to music. But what if you could use this listening time to gain new knowledge?
Don’t get me wrong, I love music and I listen to music daily. But I also listen to podcasts and audiobooks sometimes, because it’s such an easy way to learn something new in your everyday life.
(In the paid subscribers only chat, I will share some podcasts I listen to and books I read. So, subscribe now!)
3. Analyze every day: what have you learned?
At the end of the day, ask yourself: What did I learn today?
You experience a lot each day and within these experiences lie valuable lessons to learn for the future. Most of the time we just forget them, but if you really analyze each day, you can learn so much.
It can be something small. Something from a conversation. A mistake. A passage from a book. A challenge. And this again adds up over time. So, notice every day what life teaches you.
4. Dedicate a certain time of the day for learning
Pick a time — 15 or 30 minutes — and make it part of your daily rhythm. Morning, evening, during lunch — whatever works best for you. Again this doesn’t have to be much. It’s just important that you make it a habit.
In this time, read, watch an informational YouTube video, or research on the internet. Pick a topic, you are interested in, and learn.
5. Use book summary apps like Blinkist or Headway
You’re not always going to have the time or energy for a full book. That’s fine. Book summary apps will provide you with the key ideas of certain books in a short time.
Sure, these are just short summaries and won’t replace deep studying, but you broaden your knowledge and learn something new daily.
I myself use Headway daily. It’s a simple way to learn interesting ideas in a short amount of time. Also, I got a lot of my short notes from Headway summaries.
I’m really happy with Headway and that’s why I’m doing a special offer for the month of May:
Subscribe to the yearly paid subscription plan and get a FREE year of Headway Premium (worth 89.99€)‼️
